Decoding the Best Fit, Size and Style for B2B Retail

The uniform business is buying into size, fit and style recommendation solutions to eliminate the fit guessing game when employees shop for uniforms.

True Fit was recently featured on the American Airlines podcast, Tell Me Why where True Fit’s Head of Client Success, N.A., Theresa Colarusso, and American Airlines Managing Director of Base Operations, Brady Byrnes, discussed the benefit of the size, fit and style platform for large corporations with uniformed employees.

True Fit for Uniforms

As American prepared to roll out a new  Lands’ End uniform collection to its Flight Service, Airport Customer Service and Premium Guest Services team members, it knew the importance of finding the right fit — especially in a world where sizes and fits vary so greatly from brand to brand. Enter True Fit, a convenient size, fit and style platform that makes online shopping a bit more personal and eliminated the need for a traditional — and more time-intensive — fit tour.

Aspirational vs. Actual Sizes

Online shopping — especially for uniforms — can be tricky. History tells us that when consumers can’t try on physical garments, they tend to order an aspirational size, rather than the actual size with which they are most likely to find success.

By offering size and fit guidance with True Fit, American Airlines hoped to increase team members’ success in finding the best size for their preferences and on the first try. This makes the process of shopping for uniforms simple and convenient, while also improving return and exchange rates.

“We take into consideration your preferences because fit is not just about a garment’s specifications and how it fits your body, it’s actually about how you feel in your clothing and how you like to wear your clothing,” said Theresa. “We don’t use measuring tapes. What we do is we ask you to answer a couple of questions about yourself, so height and weight, and then we ask you to complete some information about the brands that you like, and the sizes that you wear.”

By implementing machine-learning algorithms into the uniform buying process, American Airlines team members can find their best-fitting uniforms based on their preferred fit. Uniform manufacturers and retailers alike can ensure all shoppers have a seamless experience in finding the best products for their individual preferences. Through this integration, employees and shoppers can shop with confidence and ease whenever they shop using True Fit.
