How did you get started in the fashion business and how has the industry changed since? I originally started as an allocator in Childrenswear and progressed my career spanning over 35 years to Brand Director. The industry has progressed enormously, giving a fully rounded approach to the customer, but essentially it’s the same: which is offering the right garment, at the right price, at the right time and satisfying the customer on all levels.

Which items in your closet do you turn to again and again? The fit of a garment is paramount and this in turn makes it an essential piece within my wardrobe which I never tire of. I turn to staples such as timeless dresses and separates that can be dressed up or down for any occasion and pieces that will outfit build very easily.

Screen Shot 2014-05-21 at 10.50.26 AMHow would you describe your style? What inspires you todo the work you do? It surprises me how every season I am always excited with the newness that is designed and developed. Fabrics and shapes continually evolve and get more attractive every season. I have a passion for feminine vintage-inspired pieces, but love to mix them with the futuristic clean fabrics and lines that are the innovations of tomorrow.

The best wardrobe is one where people keep adding and updating with a new piece which enables them to refresh old favourites to make them look new. Buying bad fitting garments in colours that don’t compliment your wardrobe is costly and disappointing.

What’s your style mantra this season? Which pieces/silhouettes are your must-haves? I absolutely adore lace. I love lace mixed with clean sharp fabrics, either in the same item or a beautiful lace piece with a clean sharp piece to contrast, this spans over dresses, tops and skirts for me. Creams and pale hues are my favourite.
