To keep up with consumer’s evolving shopping behaviors – including requests for more personalized content and in-aisle interactions – brick and mortar stores are transforming to blend old with new to create an experience that is digital-centric. Even more, specific personalization technologies such as automated product recommendations and fit guidance services are not only adding customer value, but are also improving operational excellence for sales associates.

“62% of US online adults have chosen, recommended, or paid more for a brand that provides a personalized service or experience.”

In its latest retail report, Forrester Research examined the use of in-store personalization technology. According to the report, “62% of US online adults have chosen, recommended, or paid more for a brand that provides a personalized service or experience.”  Because of this, retailers have increased their investments in associate-facing technology that leverages important consumer data and creates a better overall experience. With this tech, associates are able to make sound product recommendations on the floor, and recognize as well as reward loyal customers.

Lastly, associates can help provide fit guidance through True Fit. Forrester states: “[True Fit] is now being tested in stores, allowing associates to quickly provide guidance to customers on which products will best fit them and ensure that the products they try on in the dressing room are likely to be the right size.” Not only can True Fit help consumers discover and shop new styles and brands online with confidence, but in the near future its fit technology will be at associate’s disposal to enhance the in-store experience as well.
